16 Steps for Eye Examination According to BVAX Standards
When it comes to getting new eyeglasses, one of the most important steps is the eye examination to identify any visual impairments. Accurate eye measurements ensure that users receive lenses tailored to their specific needs, addressing their vision problems effectively.
At Monde Eyewear, we offer expert eye exams conducted using the BVAX standard (Better Vision Accuracy Expertise) to ensure the most precise prescription for the best eyewear and lenses for our customers.
What is BVAX?
The BVAX eye exam standard (Better Vision Accuracy Expertise) was developed by Haw Khwan Group Co., Ltd. to provide the most accurate vision measurement possible. The process consists of 16 detailed steps as outlined below:
Eye History Evaluation
- Eye History Evaluation We gather a customer’s eye history to assess and address any potential issues correctly.
- Objective Test Initial testing of vision abnormalities using a computer-based test and pupil distance measurement.
- Visual Acuity Test and PH Test of vision clarity using the bare eye or existing glasses, followed by a Pinhole test to separate vision issues.
- Best Vision Sphere by Red-Green Test (Duochrome Test) Confirm the accuracy of the near- or farsighted measurement obtained from step 2.
- Clock Dial Chart Test for initial astigmatism issues.
- Jackson Cross Cylinder Test for the degree and axis of astigmatism in more detail.
- Visual Acuity Test Test visual clarity after determining eye measurements.
- MPMVA Finding (Fogging Method) Use of fogging to relax the eye muscles to determine the optimal lens power for each eye.
- Binocular Balance V.A. Balance the clarity between both eyes so they have equal focus ability.
- Best Vision Acuity (BVA) Find the lens power that provides the clearest possible vision.
- Stereo Test or Worth 4 Dot Test 3D vision and binocular image fusion after correcting vision issues.
- Coincidence Test Test the balance of image size perception in both eyes after correcting vision.
- Addition Test or Accommodation Test (Binocular Cross Cylinder) Test the ability to focus on near objects and test the reading vision power.
- Negative and Positive Relative Accommodation (NRA/PRA) (Finding Range of Accommodation) Determine the maximum focusing power of the lenses (PRA) and the relaxation of focus (NRA).
- Data Analysis (Prescription on Trial Frame) Trial glasses are tested based on the prescription to be made.
- Plan and Assessment Analyze data, make recommendations for adjustments, and provide a detailed summary of the eye exam with professional advice.
